Rich, smoky and full of character, these sardines are paired with a chipotle sauce that brings warmth and depth rather than overwhelming heat. The natural richness of the sardines works beautifully against the earthy smokiness of the chilli, creating a tin with plenty of balance and a lingering savoury finish. It’s a slightly bolder take on classic conservas; comforting, punchy and very easy to keep going back to.

 

Excellent layered onto toasted bread with avocado and lime, or served alongside roasted potatoes and a tomato salad. They also work brilliantly flaked through warm rice with coriander and pickled onion. Pair with a chilled Garnacha Rosé; alternatively, an Australian amber ale or smoky Pinot Noir makes a great match for the chipotle character.
