Harvested from the clean waters of Galicia, these mussels are prepared in Cuca’s signature “salsa gallega,” a lively sauce of paprika, tomato, and spice. The sauce’s gentle heat enhances the mussels’ natural sweetness — a classic tapa in a tin.

 

Serving suggestion: Warm gently and serve with potato crisps or crusty bread to soak up the sauce, or toss through spaghetti with a drizzle of olive oil.

Begun in 1936, this Spanish brand based in Galicia is a producer of a variety of conservas, specialising in sardines and tuna. Unlike many competitors, Cuca produce seasonally. Changes in water temperature and rainfall affect the texture and flavour of the seafood; Cuca aim to produce when the fat content or flavour of each product is at its best.
