Rizzoli Emanuelli – Italian Anchovies Since 1906
The story of Rizzoli Emanuelli began in Turin in 1871, when the Rizzoli family entered the fish-preserving trade. The business moved to Parma in 1892, and in the early twentieth century the family’s expertise developed into the company known today as Rizzoli Emanuelli.Rizzoli+1Rizzoli’s signature product is its anchovies in spiced sauce, first created in 1906.
Presented in the distinctive golden tin, the speciality is made using a closely guarded family recipe passed down orally through generations. The sauce is matured for six months in numbered wooden barrels that previously held Marsala, contributing to the product’s distinctive character.
Although the golden tin remains the brand’s best-known product, Rizzoli’s range extends to anchovy fillets in oil, tuna, mackerel and other seafood specialities. Its anchovies are selected from different fishing regions, including the Cantabrian Sea and the Mediterranean, with different preparations suited to antipasti, pasta, sauces and other dishes.
The company combines a long family history with a focus on careful processing and distinctive flavour. Its spiced anchovies, in particular, stand apart from standard oil-packed fillets, offering a concentrated savoury taste that works beautifully in both simple snacks and more elaborate cooking.
For lovers of Italian conservas and premium anchovies, Rizzoli Emanuelli is a producer with a particularly memorable speciality and more than a century of expertise.
